Karl: Karl Lagerfeld’s New Line on NET-A-PORTER

Europe’s largest internet convention, LeWeb, opened its doors yesterday, highlighted by a keynote interview with fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld where he discussed his daily use of technology and how it enhances his work. As Lagerfeld displayed to his captive audience how he uses various Apple products, including multiple iPads to sketch his latest ideas, the real news yesterday came from NET-A-PORTER founder Natalie Massenet. In conjunction with the online retailer, Lagerfeld will launch a newly affordable online fashion brand, aptly named Karl. With price points starting as low as £150 GBP (approximately $235 USD) for a jacket, Karl will be the first brand to ever release exclusively online. The site launches January 25th, offering enough time to stack some cash after the holidays. Here’s hoping mrporter gets some online exclusive collaborations too.

The Greatest Shoes Never Made: Hands on shots with the Nike Mag

Great Scott!

Whenever I show people pictures of the Nike Mag, coupled with my uncontrollable excitement that these shoes were finally produced, I always get very mixed reactions. To the die hard sneakerheads all I see on their face is the same awe and wonder that I experienced when I first headed to freshnessmag.com that faithful september evening to read about the “It’s About Time” announcement. To the average joe, who knew little to nothing about these iconic shoes, I was faced with nothing more than pure contempt. I can’t say that I blame them though, if I weren’t such a huge ‘Back to The Future’ fan I wouldn’t really love these shoes as much as I do. I mean come on! a shoe that lights up  and needs to be recharged every 4 hours? what are we 5 year olds?! Well yes, the Nike Mag’s design is arguably simple and quite childish, but for me… I like to think of it as whimsical and imaginative.
